Easy, accurate accounting package for budget conscious small nonprofit organizations
Atlanta, Ga., June 12, 2006-Sage Software announced today the availability of the Peachtree by Sage 2007 product line, which includes the new version of Peachtree by Sage Premium Accounting for Nonprofits. The latest release includes a new navigation interface, faster access to key information for easier day-to-day operational management and improvements for even simpler set up.
Navigation within the Peachtree 2007 products has been significantly improved with new access and workflow enhancements. While familiar top pull down menus are still available, new side menus have been added and are visible from every screen for faster data access. The addition of these capabilities will make it easier for small nonprofits to experience straightforward access to the most common areas within Peachtree. In addition, users are also able to create customized shortcuts for regularly performed tasks.
“Small nonprofits have unique needs that require features that go beyond what’s found in basic low-end accounting packages,” said Dan DeRosa, vice president of product management, Small Business Division, Sage Software. “Peachtree Premium Accounting for Nonprofits provides all the great core accounting features that small nonprofit organizations have come to expect and depend on from Peachtree, but we have enhanced this release with even more features to help them in their day-to-day operations.”
The addition of eight sample nonprofit charts of accounts, including Unified Chart of Accounts and a United Way-based Chart of Accounts, enables small nonprofit organizations to more easily set up new books. The Unified Chart of Accounts is designed to help nonprofits quickly and reliably translate financial statements into the categories required by IRS Form 990, the federal office of Management and Budget, and others.
Nonprofits can now print signature-ready tax forms on plain paper. This includes several federal (940, 941/941 Schedule B, 943, 945, W-2, and W-3 forms) and more than180 state forms from all 50 states and the District of Columbia1.
The United Way-based Chart of Accounts has been included to help small nonprofits meet compliancy requirements and to assist with conforming to the United Way Chart of Accounts.
In addition to simple start up features such as the Set Up Wizard and guide, and the eight chart of accounts, Peachtree Premium Accounting for Nonprofits includes a number of security features, pre-built industry specific reports to help nonprofits better communicate the effectiveness of their existing programs to their audiences, capabilities that more tightly integrate Microsoft Office applications with their accounting, and easier access to key information.
Security: Peachtree Premium Accounting for Nonprofits provides standard features such as the Internal Accounting Review2, audit trail and prior period locking. The Screen-Level Password Security provides nonprofits with more control to decide who has access to what. For example, volunteers and staffers can be permitted to only enter data like incoming donations while all other information is safely locked away.
Reporting: Pre-built industry-specific reports help nonprofits better communicate the effectiveness of their existing programs to audiences such as corporate donors, members, grant committees, or to help satisfy government regulations. For even more reporting capabilities, small nonprofits have access to Crystal Reports® for Peachtree, at no additional fee, from within Peachtree Premium Accounting for Nonprofits.
Business Status Center: Peachtree Premium Accounting for Nonprofits provides a dashboard that displays critical, real-time information about the health of the organization. With eight informational sections available, the Business Status Center is customizable by user and provides instant access to an integrated view of key measurements and indicators for the organization.
Quick access to key data lists: Peachtree Premium Accounting for Construction’s new list management features enable users to easily view, drill down, print and e-mail information and records by clicking on entries included in established lists. Peachtree 2007 offers the ability to sort and search up to 25 different types of lists, such as donors and members, as well as transactions including invoices and payments.
Integration with Excel®: With more robust options for exporting data, nonprofits will be able to export Peachtree report layouts into Excel that include both the formulas for calculated values, and the report formatting, as well as the option to retain viewing capabilities such as freeze pane, auto-filtering and report headers.
Also new within Peachtree Premium Accounting is the Comparative Budget Spreadsheet Creator that enables owners to save time and avoid data re-keying mistakes by entering a budget into the Peachtree spreadsheet view, creating one from actual financials, or importing from Excel.
Outlook® Contact synchronization: This feature synchronizes vendor, customer and employee contacts in Peachtree with those in Outlook, so that contact information will only need to be entered once. A dynamic synchronization process within Peachtree 2007 will keep this contact information up to date.
