In 2006 Avocent acquired LANDesk, which brought to the table an industry leading desktop administration management suite, the LANDesk Management Suite, along with a whole series of add-ons for the integrated suite that bring in optional server, patch and process management. LANDesk was established in 1985 as LANSystems, acquired by Intel in 1991 as its LANDesk division and spun off as an independent company in 2002.
