7 New Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Features You Need to Know

Microsoft released its newest version of Dynamics GP in December. It’s named Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 and includes a number of useful enhancements. These are the seven I really like:

Home Page and Area Page Elements – The Home Page and Area Pages is a great way to navigate GP. It puts all of the functionality for a given functional area, all in one place. In GP 2013 you have a lot more control of how the pages are organized and look.

Purchase Order Tolerance Handling – You can now set up minimum and maximum levels of receiving tolerances in the PO module. The minimum quantity is the quantity at which if it is received, that PO line will be considered closed. The maximum allows you to specify the upper limit of what can be received on that PO line.

Purchase Order Prepayments – This is such a great feature; one I’ve been waiting for, for quite a long time. It allows you to create and assign check prepayments to specific POs.

Sales Orders – Related Items – If you have your customer service people entering sales orders in the Sales Transaction Entry screen, this function allows you to specify companion items that might be of interest to the customer when they are ordering items. This will increase your order value and your customer satisfaction rates.

Multi-select Serial Numbers – Dynamics GP has a robust serial and lot number tracking ability. But the entry of serial numbers has been cumbersome. This feature allows you to specify multiple serial numbers or ranges of serial numbers during data entry.

Tracking Serial/Lot Numbers on Drop Ship Orders – This will allow you to more efficiently track and process drop ship orders that include serial and lot controlled items. Since one of the main benefits of drop shipping is quick processing, this function makes it even easier.

Consolidated Sales Orders – Customers are often picky about how they want your sales invoices to look and be arranged. If you have customers that want multiple sales order to be invoiced on one invoice, this will allow you to do that. This functionality requires the Advanced Distribution module.
