AWS CloudFormation is IaaS software that provides developers and system administrators with tools to create, manage, provision and update related AWS resources. The platform enables users to build reliable and scalable AWS infrastructures, implement infrastructures designed to match user-specific requirements, and allows users to describe dependencies and parameters.

The software is equipped with sample templates that can be used either as verbatim or as a starting point, and enables users to define configuration values and interconnections, and is designed to interconnect respective AWS resources via service APIs. Additionally, the platform enables users to capture and control region-specific infrastructure variations, and provides users with JSON and YAML formatted text file templates.
