Matching Gift Software for Nonprofits

Last updated: October 8, 2026 · Independent buyer’s guide · We do not sell rankings or coverage.
Matching gift software for nonprofits does three jobs: it looks up whether a donor’s employer runs a matching gift program, it prompts the donor to submit the match request (or submits it for them where the employer’s platform allows), and it records the expected and received match in your CRM. In 2026 the nonprofit side of this market is highly concentrated. Double the Donation is the only matching gift vendor we found that publishes plan prices, starting at a usage-based Essentials tier and a Standard plan from $999 a year, while CRMs such as Raiser’s Edge NXT and Salesforce track matches natively but do not include an employer program database. This roundup lists what is published, what is not, and what you should ask before you sign.
Matching gift software pricing at a glance
All prices below were checked on October 8, 2026 against the vendor’s own page. The date in each source link is the date shown on that page.
| Vendor | Plan or tier | Published price (checked October 8, 2026) | What is included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Double the Donation | Essentials | Free sign-up, then billed by match-eligible dollars identified: $300 up to $2,000 (free in year one), $500 up to $5,000, $1,200 up to $15,000 (Double the Donation, April 30, 2026) | Employer search plugin, automated emails, auto-submission for participating employers, 3 users, one donation form integration. CRM integrations not included. |
| Double the Donation | Standard | Starts at $999 per year, by quote (Double the Donation, April 30, 2026) | Everything in Essentials plus unlimited users, CRM integrations, unlimited form integrations, CSV import, de-duplication and extra reports. |
| Double the Donation | Enterprise | Starts at $30,000 per year, by quote (Double the Donation, April 30, 2026) | Everything in Standard plus custom APIs, parent and child accounts, SMS automation and custom security reviews. |
| HEPdata (formerly Affinaquest Matching Gifts) | Matching gift database and donor tools | Not published; contact page and email only (HEPdata, April 9, 2025) | Employer program data and donor-facing lookup. Site footer says it is now powered by Double the Donation’s team. |
| Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT | Native matching gift tracking | Not published; “Ask About Pricing” (Blackbaud, September 15, 2026) | Matching gift plans on company records, matching pledges, batch linking, business rules that automatically credit donors. No employer program database. |
| Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud | Sales & Service Core | $70 per user per month, billed annually; 10 Core licenses free through Power of Us for eligible nonprofits (Salesforce, September 23, 2026) | CRM licensing only. Matching gift fields and a Find Matched Gifts action are documented for NPSP. No employer program database. |
| Fundraise Up | Double the Donation integration | No extra Fundraise Up fee; Double the Donation billed separately (Fundraise Up, no date shown) | Employer search in checkout, match status sync. Double the Donation accounts opened through Fundraise Up get Essentials at special pricing, with the first $2,000 of matches free. |
| Benevity Causes Portal; Blackbaud Verified Network (YourCause) | Nonprofit receiving portals | Free to register (Benevity, no date shown; Blackbaud, October 7, 2026) | Receive employee gifts and matches and download disbursement reports or payment details; Blackbaud’s portal also lets you verify donations and set up ACH payouts. |
Two points stand out. First, the published Essentials eligibility rule is inconsistent on Double the Donation’s own page: one section says it is for organizations reporting under $250,000 in contributions on their latest Form 990, and another says under $500,000 in total revenue (Double the Donation, April 30, 2026). Confirm which threshold applies before you plan around the cheaper tier. Second, the employer-side platforms (Benevity, YourCause, CyberGrants and others) are bought by companies, not by you. Your cost there is staff time to register and verify gifts.
What you are paying for: database, auto-submission and CRM sync
The employer match database
The core asset is a maintained list of employer programs: match ratios, minimum and maximum gift amounts, eligible employee types, deadlines and the submission link. Double the Donation says its database covers more than 26,000 companies (Double the Donation, October 1, 2026). Your CRM can store a program’s terms on a company record, but neither Raiser’s Edge NXT nor Salesforce NPSP documents a built-in, centrally maintained database of employer programs (Blackbaud, October 7, 2026; Salesforce Trailhead, no date shown). That gap is the main reason teams buy a separate tool.
Auto-submission
Auto-submission lets a donor confirm a match request on your donation confirmation page with a corporate email or employer search and a checkbox, so the request reaches the employer’s giving platform without a separate form. It only works when the employer uses a corporate giving platform that has partnered with Double the Donation and you use Double the Donation (Double the Donation, June 15, 2026).
Coverage is narrower than the marketing suggests. Double the Donation’s own pages list partners such as Givinga, Millie, POINT, Selflessly, Field Day and Uncommon Giving, and they list Benevity, YourCause, Bright Funds, CyberGrants and SmartSimple as not yet supporting it (Double the Donation, July 9, 2026; Double the Donation, June 15, 2026). If your donors’ employers use Benevity or YourCause, those match requests will still depend on donors submitting them through the employer’s portal. The two partner lists on Double the Donation’s site also differ from each other, so ask for the current list in writing.
CRM integration
The CRM integration decides how much manual data entry your team still does. Double the Donation’s Raiser’s Edge NXT integration pulls gifts and employment data from Blackbaud, lets you filter by fund ID, constituent code or gift date, and writes match status back to the constituent record (Double the Donation, no date shown). DonorPerfect lists its connection as a one-direction API (DonorPerfect, January 20, 2026). Bloomerang says its donation forms only start the automated matching process if you hold Double the Donation’s 360MatchPro plan (Bloomerang, April 3, 2026). Ask each vendor which direction data flows and whether received matches are created as gifts or only flagged as a status.
What drives cost
- Match volume. Essentials bills by the volume of donations identified as match eligible, so cost rises with success. Standard is a fixed annual rate for the year (Double the Donation, no date shown).
- Integrations. CRM integrations start at Standard. If you need match status in Raiser’s Edge NXT, Salesforce, Bloomerang or DonorPerfect, Essentials will not do the job.
- Number of forms and channels. Essentials allows one donation form integration; Standard allows unlimited. Organizations running events, peer-to-peer and online giving on separate tools need the higher tier.
- Organizational structure. Parent and child accounts, which federated organizations and university systems often need, appear only in Enterprise.
- Security review. Custom agreements and security reviews are listed under Enterprise. If your procurement team requires a custom data processing agreement, expect that to push you up a tier.
Hidden and extra costs
CRM licensing. The matching tool sits on top of your CRM, so any extra users or API access in the CRM is a separate cost. Salesforce’s Power of Us program gives eligible nonprofits 10 free Core licenses, then charges $70 per user per month for Sales & Service Core (Salesforce, September 23, 2026). Double the Donation says its Raiser’s Edge NXT integration carries no extra API access fees or per-transaction charges while both subscriptions are active (Double the Donation, no date shown).
Onboarding. The pricing page lists an onboarding package as available for purchase on Essentials, while Standard and Enterprise include an onboarding package and a dedicated implementation specialist (Double the Donation, April 30, 2026). The fee for the Essentials package is not published.
Donation platform subscriptions. The donation form vendors we checked connect to the matching tool but do not bill for it themselves. Donorbox says organizations sign up and pay Double the Donation directly (Donorbox, August 21, 2023), and Givebutter tells you to choose a Double the Donation plan separately (Givebutter, no date shown).
Success fees on sponsor matches. Do not confuse employer matching with challenge matching, where a sponsor pledges to match gifts during a campaign. MatchNice, a sponsor-match tool, charges a 10% success fee on matched funds (Fundraise Up Marketplace, February 4, 2026). That model is unrelated to employer match databases.
Staff time. Some employers that use YourCause require you to confirm the original donation before they release matching funds (Blackbaud, October 7, 2026). Someone on your team has to log in, verify and reconcile those payouts, whatever software you buy.
Illustration: Essentials versus Standard
The figures below are an illustration, not vendor data. Suppose your tool identifies $12,000 in match-eligible gifts in a year. On Essentials that falls in the $15,000 tier, so the fee is $1,200, or 10% of the identified amount. The Standard plan starts at $999 a year with CRM integration included. Identified dollars are not received dollars, so judge the fee against the matches your CRM shows as actually paid, not against what the tool flags.
How to compare quotes
- Ask for the price as an annual figure for your expected identified-match volume, and for the next tier up, so you know where the step change falls.
- Ask which corporate giving platforms support auto-submission today, and what share of your current matches came from employers on those platforms. Your CRM’s matching gift report will tell you which companies paid you last year.
- Ask how the vendor defines “identified,” “submitted” and “received,” and which of those statuses writes back to your CRM.
- Confirm whether the integration creates a pending matching gift pledge in the CRM or only updates a status field. In Raiser’s Edge NXT, matching gift pledges and automatic crediting rules are native features (Blackbaud, October 7, 2026), so you want the tool to feed them rather than duplicate them.
- Get the contract term, renewal uplift and exit terms in writing, including how you export employer data you have captured.
Vendor profiles
Double the Donation
Double the Donation is the only nonprofit-side vendor in this roundup with published tiers, and it claims more than 100 technology partners and SOC 2 Type II compliance (Double the Donation, October 1, 2026). Its strength is breadth: the database, emails, auto-submission and CRM sync come from one vendor. The limitation is concentration. It now also powers HEPdata, so you have little competitive pressure on price, and it publishes much of the comparison content you will find when you search for alternatives.
HEPdata
HEPdata has offered matching gift data for more than 20 years and brought back the HEPdata name in 2025 after operating as Affinaquest Matching Gifts (HEPdata, April 9, 2025). Double the Donation describes it as a legacy platform serving about 1,000 long-standing clients (Double the Donation, July 31, 2026). If you are a current HEPdata customer, ask for a written product roadmap before renewing. Pricing is not published.
Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT
Raiser’s Edge NXT handles the accounting side of matches well: company matching plans, matching gift pledges, batch linking of potential matches and business rules that automatically credit donors (Blackbaud, October 7, 2026). It does not identify eligible donors for you, so organizations that want donor screening pair it with a separate database tool. See our Raiser’s Edge NXT alternatives guide if you are reviewing the CRM itself.
Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack
NPSP adds matching gift fields to company accounts, a Matching Gift Status on donations and a Find Matched Gifts action that links the company’s payment to the original gifts and creates partial soft credits (Salesforce Trailhead, no date shown). Program terms are entered by hand, so it is a tracking layer, not a source of employer data. Licensing beyond the 10 free Power of Us seats is per user.
Donation platforms (Fundraise Up, Donorbox, Givebutter, Bloomerang, DonorPerfect)
These platforms embed an employer search on the gift form and pass data to Double the Donation, which runs the follow-up. Fundraise Up states it adds no fees for the integration (Fundraise Up, no date shown). The limitation is that each one still requires a separate Double the Donation subscription for automated follow-up. For a wider comparison of donor CRMs, see our donor management software guide.
Benevity and Blackbaud Verified Network
These are free nonprofit portals attached to corporate giving platforms. Benevity’s portal lets you build a profile, receive donations and pull disbursement reports, and Blackbaud Verified Network lets you verify donations for employers that require it and set up ACH, which Blackbaud says can shorten payment time by about two weeks (Benevity, no date shown; Blackbaud, October 7, 2026). They do not find eligible donors for you, and neither currently supports Double the Donation auto-submission.
Is matching gift software worth it?
The opportunity is real but uneven. CECP’s 2025 data shows 94% of the large companies it surveys offer at least one matching gift program, yet on average only 21% of employees take part (CECP via 3BL Media, August 6, 2026). Double the Donation, which sells matching software, estimates $4 billion to $7 billion in matching funds goes unclaimed each year (Double the Donation, June 15, 2026). If your donor base skews toward employees of large companies, a paid tool is easier to justify. If most donors are retirees or small business owners, start with your CRM’s native tracking and the free corporate portals. Our nonprofit software pricing guide shows how this cost fits alongside CRM and accounting spend.
How we researched this
We searched Google for “matching gift software for nonprofits” and read the top-ranking pages, most of which are published by vendors that sell matching or fundraising tools. We then checked each vendor’s own pricing page, product documentation and help center on October 8, 2026, and recorded the date shown on each page. We list a price only where the vendor publishes it. We did not receive payment from any vendor named here, and we did not test the products hands-on.

Frequently asked questions
How much does matching gift software cost for a small nonprofit?
Double the Donation’s Essentials plan is free to start and then charges $300 for up to $2,000 in identified match-eligible gifts, with the first year free, rising to $1,200 for up to $15,000. Essentials does not include CRM integration. Its Standard plan starts at $999 a year by quote.
Does Raiser’s Edge NXT have a matching gift database?
Raiser’s Edge NXT lets you store a company’s matching gift plan, create matching gift pledges and auto-credit donors, according to Blackbaud’s help documentation. It does not document a maintained database of employer programs. To identify eligible donors automatically, you need a separate matching gift tool.
What is matching gift auto-submission?
Auto-submission lets a donor send a match request to their employer from your donation confirmation page instead of filling out the employer’s form. It only works when the employer’s giving platform has partnered with Double the Donation. Large platforms such as Benevity and YourCause are listed as not yet supporting it.
Can Salesforce track matching gifts without extra software?
Yes. The Nonprofit Success Pack includes matching gift fields on company accounts, a matching gift status on donations and a Find Matched Gifts action that applies soft credits. You must enter each employer’s program terms yourself, because NPSP does not include an employer database.
Is there a free way to receive matching gifts from companies on Benevity or YourCause?
Yes. Benevity’s Causes Portal and Blackbaud Verified Network are free for nonprofits to register. You use them to receive payouts, download disbursement reports or payment details and, on Blackbaud’s portal, verify donations and set up ACH. They do not find eligible donors for you.
Are there alternatives to Double the Donation?
Fewer than most comparison pages suggest. HEPdata is the long-standing alternative, but its site says it is now powered by Double the Donation’s team. Most other names on vendor lists are corporate giving platforms that employers buy, not tools a nonprofit purchases.
