SmartBear Software to join hands with AutomatedQA and Pragmatic Software

SmartBear Software recently announced that testing tools company AutomatedQA and life-cycle tool maker, Pragmatic Software will be joining hands.  Although the announcement was made, the merger is yet to take place, the reason being that both the companies – AutomatedQA and Pragmatic Software were bought over by private equity fund, Insight Venture Partners.

The merger will definitely help SmartBear Software reach out to newer audiences and expand their product portfolio. Apart from offering CodeCollaborators, which is a lightweight code-review tool, SmartBear will also sell AutomatedQA’s  automated testing tools, TestComplete and performance profiler AQtime, and Pragmatic’s Software Planner tools. All the products put together deliver a comprehensive testing software package.

The product names will not be changed and will be sold under their same brand names, as they are already well-known in the industry. Also, the location of the companies’ development teams will remain the same and not be moved to SmartBear Software’s headquarters in Austin, Texas.

Talking about the merger, Gottfried Sehringer, CMO, AutomatedQA, said, “the merger brings together a family of tools that SmartBear views from a best-of-breed perspective. We don’t talk about an ALM suite. We look at ourselves as serving developers and testers with quality tools at an affordable price.”
