NetSuite Advanced Manufacturing: Shop Floor, Routing and Scheduling Features

NetSuite Advanced Manufacturing: Shop Floor, Routing and Scheduling Features

Last updated: November 4, 2026 · Independent guide · We do not sell rankings or coverage.

NetSuite Advanced Manufacturing is Oracle’s top manufacturing tier, delivered as a SuiteApp that sits on top of work orders, WIP and manufacturing routings. It adds finite capacity scheduling, a shop floor tablet for operators, travelers, downtime and labor capture, and production reports. Oracle does not publish its price, and its own documentation says it is configured with NetSuite Professional Services.

What NetSuite Advanced Manufacturing is

Oracle says the SuiteApp “extends your NetSuite manufacturing routing into the Advanced Manufacturing Work Bench,” where you define work instructions, link material usage, compare resource supply with demand and set planned start and end times (Oracle, no date shown). It is the third of three manufacturing modules. NetSuite’s product page describes Work Orders and Assemblies as an add-on that is also part of WIP and Routings and Advanced Manufacturing (NetSuite, no date shown).

Module What it adds
Work Orders and Assemblies Work orders, assembly builds, backflushing
WIP and Routings Work centers, routings, labor costing, WIP tracking, infinite capacity scheduling, Gantt view
Advanced Manufacturing Finite capacity scheduling, rough-cut capacity planning, advanced work order management and control, batch management, manufacturing execution, optional quality management

The table follows Oracle’s Advanced Manufacturing datasheet (2018), which also lists bar-coded travelers and tablet entry for completions, material issues, downtime and labor hours. Operators log in at Advanced Manufacturing > Tablet Data Entry > Tablet and work from a work queue instead of paper travelers (Oracle, no date shown).

An example (illustrative)

A machine shop runs 300 released work orders a week across four CNC cells. On WIP and Routings, planners schedule against infinite capacity, so overloads surface only as late jobs. With Advanced Manufacturing, the planner checks OK to Release, selects the AM work center and lets finite scheduling fill the AM Planned Start Date (Oracle, no date shown). Operators then record production results, labor, downtime and material loss on a tablet at each cell.

The same shop would hit documented limits. The tablet displays only up to 45 operations per order, scheduling does not cover non-WIP or non-routed WIP orders, Planned orders cannot be fully scheduled until Released, and the SuiteApp does not automatically issue lot and serial items (Oracle best practices, no date shown). Shops without routings can still use the tablet through conventional work orders tied to an AM work center (Oracle, no date shown).

How it is used in practice, licensing, and when you add an MES

Oracle says anyone who buys the Manufacturing feature receives the Manufacturing Mobile scanner SuiteApp, and “you do not need to buy an Advanced Manufacturing license or a WMS license” for it (Oracle, no date shown). The drag-and-drop Manufacturing Scheduler SuiteApp, which shows overloaded work centers, lists only the WIP and Routing features as prerequisites (Oracle, no date shown; Oracle, no date shown). Inspections come from the Quality Management SuiteApp (Oracle, no date shown), which the datasheet lists as an optional feature set.

Oracle publishes no price for Advanced Manufacturing. BrokenRubik, a NetSuite partner, estimates it at $1,500 to $3,000 per month on top of the base license (BrokenRubik, April 24, 2026); treat that as a partner estimate and get a quote. Budget for Professional Services too, because Oracle says a consultant sets up the SuiteApp with your administrator (Oracle, no date shown).

The ISA-95 model places MES at Level 3, which manages the production workflow, and ERP at Level 4, which manages the business side (Siemens, an MES vendor, no date shown). Advanced Manufacturing covers part of Level 3 inside NetSuite. Manufacturers usually add a dedicated MES when they need direct machine data, high-volume repetitive lines, routings longer than the tablet limit, or regulated electronic batch records.

How we researched this

We read Oracle’s Advanced Manufacturing, Manufacturing Mobile and Manufacturing Scheduler help pages and the Advanced Manufacturing datasheet on November 4, 2026. We also reviewed the top-ranking pages for this term from Anchor Group (September 9, 2026), Versich (updated October 26, 2026) and BrokenRubik (April 24, 2026), all of which sell NetSuite services. The example is our illustration.

Frequently asked questions

Is Advanced Manufacturing included in NetSuite?

No. It is a separately licensed manufacturing tier delivered as a SuiteApp, and Oracle does not publish its price. It includes the Work Orders and Assemblies functions.

Do I need Advanced Manufacturing for shop floor scanning?

Not necessarily. Oracle says the Manufacturing Mobile scanner SuiteApp comes with the Manufacturing feature and does not need an Advanced Manufacturing or WMS license. Advanced Manufacturing adds the tablet work queue, finite scheduling and production reports.

Does NetSuite Advanced Manufacturing do finite capacity scheduling?

Yes. Oracle’s datasheet lists finite production scheduling, and the work order’s AM Planned Start Date is filled from finite scheduling. It applies only to released WIP work orders with routings.

Is NetSuite Advanced Manufacturing a full MES?

Oracle’s 2018 datasheet says it supports full MES capabilities, but its documented limits matter. Plants with machine integration or regulated batch record needs usually run a dedicated MES alongside NetSuite.
