NetSuite Account Reconciliation: Native Tools, ARCS and Close Add-Ons

NetSuite Account Reconciliation: Native Tools, ARCS and Close Add-Ons

Last updated: November 3, 2026 · Independent guide · We do not sell rankings or coverage.

NetSuite account reconciliation works at two levels. Core NetSuite reconciles bank and credit card accounts on the Match Bank Data and Reconcile Account Statement pages. Other balance sheet accounts, such as accruals, prepaids and intercompany balances, need manual workpapers or a separately licensed product: Oracle’s NetSuite Account Reconciliation or a close add-on such as BlackLine or FloQast. NetSuite Account Reconciliation is provisioned on Oracle Cloud EPM (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown), whose Account Reconciliation application is often called ARCS, short for Account Reconciliation Cloud Service (SC&H Group, no date shown). This guide covers both, with the integration steps in Oracle’s documented order.

How we researched this

Every menu path and setting in this guide comes from Oracle’s NetSuite online help and the Oracle Cloud EPM Account Reconciliation documentation, checked on November 3, 2026. We also reviewed the pages ranking for “netsuite account reconciliation” from NetSuite, Folio3 and Nanonets. Each is published by Oracle, a NetSuite partner or a vendor selling a competing tool, and none gives the integration setup sequence or the native feature’s limits. We did not test a live account.

What NetSuite does natively and what needs Account Reconciliation

Close task Core NetSuite NetSuite Account Reconciliation
Bank and credit card statements Match Bank Data and Reconcile Account Statement pages Can also hold bank reconciliations, with Transaction Matching
Accruals, prepaids, clearing, intercompany No reconciliation page; use the Trial Balance and saved searches with outside workpapers Profiles, formats and auto-reconciliation rules
Preparer and reviewer sign-off Not described for non-bank accounts Preparer and Reviewer roles with sign-off dates
Close task list Period Close Checklist with fixed system tasks Task scheduling and monitoring dashboard

The Period Close Checklist, opened from Setup > Accounting > Manage GL > Manage Accounting Periods, lists system tasks such as Lock A/R, Lock A/P, Revalue Open Foreign Currency Balances, Eliminate Intercompany Transactions and Close. Oracle’s page does not include a balance sheet reconciliation task or describe adding your own tasks (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown). Oracle’s data sheet for NetSuite Account Reconciliation lists prebuilt formats, many-to-many auto-matching, sign-off workflow, flux analysis and drill-back to NetSuite (Oracle NetSuite data sheet, copyright 2024).

Before you start

  • License. NetSuite Account Reconciliation is a separate purchase. Oracle says to contact your NetSuite account manager for a license, and the environment must be provisioned on your Oracle Cloud EPM account (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown). Oracle does not publish the price; TechTarget reported an undisclosed additional charge at launch (TechTarget, June 15, 2023).
  • Provisioning of the SuiteApp. Account Reconciliation Sync is a shared SuiteApp that must be provisioned for your NetSuite account before you can install it, and you need access to the SuiteApp Marketplace (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown).
  • Role. Installation and setup require the Administrator role (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown).
  • Features. Custom Records, Client SuiteScript and Server SuiteScript, plus the account numbers preference (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown).

Step 1: Finish bank and credit card reconciliations in core NetSuite

Oracle’s native workflow is to import bank or credit card data, match or clear transactions, submit the matches and then reconcile (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown). The final step is on Transactions > Bank > Reconcile Account Statement (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown). Oracle advises printing the Reconciliation Summary report (Reports > Banking/Budgeting > Reconciliation) before you reconcile another account, because it cannot be recaptured (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown). Our NetSuite bank reconciliation guide covers file imports, matching rules and statement balances screen by screen.

Step 2: Install the NetSuite EPM Connector and Account Reconciliation Sync

Install and set up the NetSuite EPM Connector SuiteApp for Account Reconciliation first. If NSPB Sync is already installed, you skip the connector and add the customsearch_nsar_ prefix to the NSPB Sync saved search allowlist instead (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown).

Enable the features at Setup > Company > Setup Tasks > Enable Features on the SuiteCloud subtab, and turn on account numbers at Setup > Accounting > Preferences > Accounting Preferences (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown). Then click the SuiteApps tab, search for Account Reconciliation Sync, open the tile and click Install. It is a managed SuiteApp, so NetSuite updates it automatically (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown).

Step 3: Create the Account Reconciliation application and assign roles

In Oracle Cloud EPM, create a new NetSuite Account Reconciliation application or import a backup with the Migration tool, then assign the Preparer and Reviewer roles (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown). In NetSuite, give the implementer the NSEPM Implementer role and the integration user the NSAR Integration role (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown).

Step 4: Connect NetSuite to the application

Set up token-based authentication, then go to NetSuite EPM > Account Reconciliation > Connection Settings. Enter the Account Reconciliation URL, check Use Entered URL to Verify Inbound Connections, choose OAuth 2.0 or Basic Auth and click Save Active Connection. Oracle says Basic Auth is for testing or for when OAuth 2.0 is unavailable (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown).

Step 5: Schedule the script deployments

At Customization > Scripting > Script Deployments, set each deployment’s Status to Scheduled with a 12:00 am start time. Oracle recommends repeating NSAR | Start Scheduled Jobs, NSAR | SS Check Job Progress and NSAR | SS Check/Generate OAuth Token every 15 minutes, and NSAR | SS Cleanup every 2 hours (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown).

Step 6: Create the saved searches and flag accounts

Go to NetSuite EPM > Account Reconciliation > Manage Saved Searches and click Create Default Saved Searches. Searches are grouped as Miscellaneous Saved Searches, Reconciliation Compliance and Transaction Matching (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown).

Then edit accounts at Lists > Accounting > Accounts:

  • Group reconciliations. Enter the Account Reconciliation Profile Account and Account Reconciliation Profile Name so several NetSuite accounts reconcile under one profile. If two accounts share a profile account and subsidiary, only the first is exported (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown).
  • Transaction Matching. Check Include in Transaction Matching for Account Reconciliation. The NSAR GL Transaction Lines and NSAR Profile Template searches read this box (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown).

Step 7: Export setup data and configure formats and profiles

The SuiteApp exports Organization Unit, Profile, Period, Global Period, Application Period and Currency Rates data from NetSuite for import into Account Reconciliation (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown). In the application, each reconciliation comes from one profile, which holds the preparer and reviewer, instructions, format and risk rating (Oracle, no date shown).

Each format uses one of three methods. Balance Comparison compares a subledger balance with the GL, Account Analysis has the preparer explain a GL balance with no subledger, and Variance Analysis explains movement against a prior period end (Oracle, no date shown). Profiles can be assigned auto-reconciliation methods such as Balance is zero, No activity and Balance is within range (Account Analysis) or Balance match (% Tolerance) (Balance Comparison) (Oracle, no date shown).

Step 8: Load balances and create reconciliations each month

Oracle’s NetSuite help says to create the period’s reconciliations in the application before you run a job for that period. Jobs are at NetSuite EPM > Account Reconciliation > Manage Jobs, where you can Edit (to schedule), Execute or view Logs (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown). In the application, go to Application, then Periods, and choose Create Reconciliations from the period’s Actions menu. Pending reconciliations are overwritten from the profile, while Open or Closed ones are not updated (Oracle, no date shown). Then check for missing reconciliations, open the period, monitor status, and finally close and lock it (Oracle, no date shown).

If you adjust transactions in Transaction Matching, a post-processing plug-in (NSAR | PI Job Post Process) can load those adjustments back into NetSuite. Download the sample from NetSuite EPM > Account Reconciliation > Integration Artifacts, customize it and attach it to a job (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown).

A balance sheet reconciliation workflow for month end

This is an illustration, not a client example. A company could run its close like this:

  1. Business day 1 and 2: reconcile bank and card accounts natively, then lock A/R and A/P from the Period Close Checklist.
  2. Business day 2: create reconciliations for the period, then run the data load job.
  3. Assign Balance is zero and No activity to dormant accounts so they close without review.
  4. Use Balance Comparison for A/R, A/P and inventory, Account Analysis for accruals and prepaids, and Balance Comparison with Transaction Matching for high-volume clearing accounts.
  5. Preparers attach support and explain differences, reviewers sign off, and adjusting entries post in NetSuite.
  6. Close the NetSuite period, then close and lock the Account Reconciliation period.

For the broader close calendar, see our month-end close checklist, and for the reconciliation method itself, our general ledger reconciliation process.

Common mistakes and how to fix them

  • The aging does not tie to the balance sheet. Financial reports run by posting period while aging reports run by transaction date. Citrin Cooperman, which sells NetSuite services, says that setting the Report by Period preference to All Reports makes the aging match the balance sheet (Citrin Cooperman, May 9, 2024). The Reports > Financial > Trial Balance report has the same preference (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown).
  • Scheduled jobs do not run. Check the script deployments in Step 5. Some test drive accounts with IDs beginning TSTDRV cannot schedule jobs at all (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown).
  • A profile change does not appear in this month’s reconciliation. Profiles are snapshotted when reconciliations are created. To change a format, delete the reconciliation, update the profile and copy it to the period again (Oracle, no date shown).
  • The adjustment plug-in stops after an update. Oracle says you may need to download, customize and reattach the sample script with each new SuiteApp version (Oracle NetSuite, no date shown).

Limitations of the native feature

The Reconcile Account Statement workflow Oracle documents covers bank and credit card statements only. For other accounts you get reports and saved searches, not a reconciliation record with support, preparer and reviewer, and the Period Close Checklist does not record who reconciled each account. NetSuite Account Reconciliation fills that gap, at the cost of a separate EPM application, an unpublished price, two SuiteApps and an integration user to maintain.

When companies add a third-party tool

FloQast ties Excel workpapers to the GL balance with an “#FQ” anchor and reruns current-period reconciliations nightly, with a 20 MB limit per Excel tab (FloQast, no date shown), and lists NetSuite among its ERP integrations (FloQast, no date shown). BlackLine says NetSuite customers use it for account reconciliations, journal entries and high-volume transaction matching, and that it can validate and post journal entries in real time (BlackLine, no date shown). Both vendors sell these products. Our close management software guide compares them, including what each vendor publishes about price.

Frequently asked questions

Does NetSuite have account reconciliation built in?

For bank and credit card accounts, yes, through the Match Bank Data and Reconcile Account Statement pages. For other balance sheet accounts, core NetSuite has no reconciliation workflow with sign-off. Oracle sells NetSuite Account Reconciliation as a separate product for that.

Is NetSuite Account Reconciliation the same as Oracle ARCS?

It runs on Oracle Cloud EPM Account Reconciliation, often called ARCS, as a separate EPM application. NetSuite connects to it through the NetSuite EPM Connector and Account Reconciliation Sync SuiteApps.

How much does NetSuite Account Reconciliation cost?

Oracle does not publish a price. TechTarget reported in June 2023 that it is an additional charge with undisclosed pricing.

Can NetSuite Account Reconciliation post adjustments back to NetSuite?

Oracle documents a sample post-processing plug-in that loads Transaction Matching adjustments into NetSuite. You customize it, attach it to a job and may need to reattach it after SuiteApp updates.
