If you don't have the budget to get a proper software CRM, putting some time and dedication into Excel can turn it into a very effective simple CRM for a single person to stay organized. Here's a blog post I wrote awhile back about different business software uses for Excel.

If you are using MS-Outlook (2007 or 2010) in your office, then you can download an add-in from
This will help you track your prospects, sales opportunities and related tasks leveraging the Outlook contact list.
This is free. No adware. No spam.
If you want to, repeat want to, you can also register a free account with Saleswah CRM through the Add-in. And, add a couple of colleagues too- when you grow, still free.
When you are bigger than a 3 member team, Saleswah CRM is chargeable.
