What ROI do users REALLY want from an ERP or do they just think it is a thing they “must do”?

Generally my clients have gone with ERP because they are growing and their current systems just won't support what they want to do. I seldom have seen anyone take on ERP because they thought it would save them money. That's where you would do an ROI. Mostly they want it to enable things they want to do and can't. They make the ROI fit if its required but they don't let it drive the decision.
